I’m Ed Brenegar, the creator of the Circle of Impact model of leadership and the author of Circle of Impact: Taking Personal Initiative to Ignite Change. Two decades ago, the Circle of Impact formed in my mind by observing patterns of behavior in organizations. As the Circle of Impact developed, two other principles became clear. The first is that we are in a time of great transition. “We are all in transition. Every one of us. All the time.” Never before have people had the opportunities to be persons of impact. I see that “All leadership begins with personal initiative to create impact that makes a difference that matters.” It means that every person can function as a leader of impact. This transition in society and in leadership is being driven by networks of relationships that are global in scope and local in focus.
